Clinical studies on Intexication of Rodenticide RH-787


Abstract
From May, 1970 to June, 1976, it was investigated clinical data and findings of 27 hospitalized patients who were intoxicated with rodenticide RH-787 for purpose of suicide at Seoul red cross hospital.
The result of observation were as follow;
1) In the 27 cases, the following complaints were noticed; i.e. gastrotestinal symptoms in 17 cases )60%), consciousness disturbance in 9 cases (33%) and systemic symptoms in 8 cases (30%).
2) In the 25 cases, there were significant elevation of bath SGOT and Serum amylase in 2 cases.
3) In the 25 cases, electrolyte were within normal- limit in most of cases but potassium was moderate elevated in one case(6.5 mEq/L) and sodium were subnormal in 2 cases(130mEq/L).
4) In the 25 cases, serum creatinine were elevated in 4 cases, the 2 cases were 6.0-7.Omg% and the other two cases were 2..0-2.5mg% and BUN were 60~7.0mg% in 2 cases and 30~40 mg% 8 cases.
5) The only one case there is subnormal, of serum calcium (8.5mg%) and in the remaining 24 cases there were within normal limit.
6) Diabetes mellitus were confirmed in 20 cases out of 27 cases i.e. urine sugar were 4+ in 12 cases, ketone body were positive in 1.1 cases and fasting blood sugar were above 600mg% in 2 cases,, 300-¢¥600mg in 10 cases, 120^30mg% in 8 cases and diabetic coma were observed in 2 cases. Insulin therapy were well controlled in 10 cases out of 15 cases.
7) Among 27 patients, 3 cases were expired, there was diabetic coma in one cases, acute renal lailure in one case and ascending paralysis in one case.
